Magnus Walan's Private Collection

History

Active in the Isolate South Africa Committee (ISAC) as managing secretary in the eighties as well as a board member 1980-94. He worked with information for AGS in the eighties and was also chairman of the board for a year. He made several trips to South Africa during this time and met with people from the church, trade unions, student and political organizations involved in the struggle.

Some one hundred interviews and press conferences mainly from the eighties with liberation people in South Africa and also Namibia, including Frank Chikane, Walter Sisulu, Trevor Manual, Oliver Tambo, Jay Naidoo, Beyers Naudee, Eljas Banda, Zwelake Sisulu, Helen Joseph, Murphy Morobe, Ben Ulenga, Gwen Lister and Cyril Ramaphosa.
