Posters
Posters were a major tool in informing the public on the liberation struggle. This was the time before Internet, before mass email and fast communication. Through the posters, that were sometimes beautifully designed by true artists, the public was made aware of the situation and was urged to participate.

Posters in the Nordic countries spoke of activities arranged by the solidarity movement such as demonstrations, concerts, boycotts and rallies in support of the liberation and anti-apartheid struggles. These activities attracted hundreds and thousands of people, illustrating the atmosphere of these times.
The liberation movements in southern Africa also used posters as a major information tool. They were used for education purposes, to spread the message and to rally support. Images were important as illiteracy was often a problem.
The posters constitute an important part of the visual archives from this period. A gathering of links with posters can also be accessed at No Easy Victories website External link, opens in new window..
