Angela Muvumba Sellström is a senior researcher on the UN Security Council, women, peace and security, and conflict-related sexual violence. She has worked on Africa’s peace and security for over two decades in academic, policy, and diplomatic roles.

Research

Angela Muvumba Sellström has led multi-year research on the UN Security Council’s elected members, Africa’s peace and security frameworks, and rebel groups and wartime sexual violence. Her work, grounded in field research, explores the intersection of gender, governance, and armed conflict, and informs both academic scholarship and policy-making.

Her work spans armed group behavior, sexual violence prevention, and the WPS agenda, combining field research with multilateral policy engagement. With 25 years of experience in Africa and beyond, she blends field-based analysis with policy engagement.
