What next – will Gen-Z bring lasting change to Africa’s political landscapes?

Date: Tuesday 16 December
Location: Hotel At Six, Brunkebergstorg 6, Stockholm
Described by themselves as #fearless, #partyless and #tribeless, Africa’s Gen Zs are mobilizing protests, reclaiming the meanings of democracy and questioning governments across the continent. Will the protests pass, or do we see the beginnings of systemic change? How do they differ from previous waves of social and political mobilization?
During this conversation, NAI researcher Dr Martins Kwazema, historian and futurist, will discuss with NAI director, Dr Therése Sjömander, the Gen Z’s protests across Kenya, Madagascar, Ghana, Morocco and Tanzania, the potency of digitally mobilized civic agency and the political futures that seem to take shape in the horizon.
