260,000 Chinese workers reside in Angola today. At the end of the civil war in 2002, there were not even 260. Rich in oil, minerals and other natural resources, Angola is China’s second-biggest trading partner in Africa. Over the past decade, more than 500 Chinese companies have operated in Angola, mostly in construction, infrastructure and mining.
The most prominent among their construction projects is a whole new city, Kilamba, built from scratch.
