Library programmes
At the Nordic Africa Institute, we offer two library programmes designed to make our unique Africa-focused collections accessible to a wide range of users — whether you visit us in Uppsala or connect digitally from afar.
Our Library Visitor’s Programme welcomes on-site guests who wish to explore our physical collections, while the Virtual Library Programme offers remote access to selected e-resources for Africa-based researchers.
Library Visitor’s Programme
Are you planning a research stay in Uppsala to explore contemporary Africa through our collections?
The Library Visitor’s Programme offers students, researchers, and journalists access to NAI’s library resources, workspaces, Wi-Fi, and computers equipped with standard office software.
Please note that participation is self-financed — you cover your own travel, accommodation, and living costs. The programme runs throughout the year (with limited access during holidays) and includes no administrative services.
Virtual Library Programme
The Virtual Library Programme offers Africa-based researchers year-long digital access to selected Africa-specific e-resources at NAI.
It supports research collaboration between Africa and the Nordics — reducing travel emissions while promoting diversity and inclusion. The programme strengthens knowledge co-creation and bridges perspectives across continents.
