Francis Nyamnjoh delivers AMMODI keynote on lessons from Covid-19
African migration, mobility, and displacement — AMMODI External link, opens in new window. — is a collaborative research group and a platform for cross-disciplinary migration research. Jesper Bjarnesen, NAI researcher and co-founder of the network, will moderate the second annual AMMODI keynote lecture on 30 June.
In his keynote lecture, Nyamnjoh reflects on some of the lessons the covid-19 pandemic can teach us about human mobility. He argues that the world as a whole could learn from resilient philosophies of kinship and solidarity in Africa to approach mobility in a more humane manner. Priority would be less on containment and more on accommodation of the stranger and freedom of movement
