This launch will be a roundtable discussion on the contribution and impact of the Beijing Platform of Action in different African countries.
Journal Guest Editors: Amanda Gouws (SARChI Chair in Gender Politics) and Diana Højlund Madsen (Nordic Africa Institute, Uppsala, Sweden)
This webinar is free and open for all.
- Amanda Gouws is a Professor of Political Science and SARChI Chair in Gender Politics at Stellenbosch University. Her areas of specialization are women’s representation in government, national gender machineries and feminist activism. She has published widely in these areas.
- Asiyati Lorraine Chiweza is Associate Professor in Public Administration in the Department of Political and Administrative Studies at Chancellor College, University of Malawi. Her main research interests are, decentralisation and local governance, gender and governance and public sector reforms
- Diana Højlund Madsen is Senior Gender Researcher at the Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala, Sweden. She is also a Research Fellow at the University of Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa. Her research focus on gender and politics, gender and conflict and gender mainstreaming with a specific focus on Ghana and Rwanda.
- Dr Siphokazi Magadla is a Senior Lecturer in the Political and International Studies department at Rhodes University, South Africa. She is the co-editor, with Dr Babalwa Magoqwana and Prof Nthabiseng Motsemme, of the Special Issue Thirty years of Male Daughters, Female Husbands: Revisiting Ifi Amadiume’s questions on gender, sex and political economy (2021) in the Journal of Contemporary African Studies.
