Gendered (In)securities in Eastern Africa

Time • 31 Jul 2019 - 14:00
Place • FGG 201, UFS Bloemfontein Campus, Centre for Gender and Africa Studies, University of the Free State, South Africa

As the 20 years of the resolution 1325 on ‘Women, peace and security’ is approaching the seminar aims at putting a spotlight on the gendered (in)securities in Eastern Africa – more specifically Rwanda and Uganda.

This seminar is open for all, no entrance fee.

The seminar debates which gendered (in)securities can be identified in these two contexts. And what have been the responses to address these by actors working on ‘Women, peace and security’. The seminar also debates the insights from African Feminism and post colonialism and their relevance for research on gender and conflict and peacebuilding in the region to challenge existing knowledge and practices and to look into how these insights can be incorporated in future work on ‘Women, peace and security’ post 2020.
