We value collaboration and a cross-functional way of working, or simply Work as one. We are about 35 employees plus guests, enough to always find company for a coffee and still know us all by name. We also bring in scholars, guests, interns, students and visitors into our community. We have a simple but comprehensive concept to ensure a meaningful context for our staff: Culture, Competence, and Capacity.
Part of NAI is our large special library focused on contemporary Africa, mainly within social sciences. Along with books and other resources, we host more than 600 shelf meters of official documents from 50+ African states. The library is located in the same building as our offices.
Mission and values
We are a commited international team, with a shared belief that a deeper understanding of the issues that shape contemporary Africa will contribute to making development sustainable.
Our strategy aims to establish us as a knowledge-generating, policy-informing and collaborative organisation. We build bridges between research and development policy, and between African and Nordic perspectives.
