Stefan Falk is a Senior Advisor at Swedfund, Stockholm. He obtained his bachelors in economic history and a master’s degree in labour economics from the University of Gothenburg.

Background

Stefan's professional background has focused on applied economics; mainly public finance and development finance. At the start of his career he served as a Junior Professional Officer at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) based in Lusaka and Harare. He also worked as a Senior Economist at the Swedish Embassy in Lusaka.

Other international positions include public finance expert include the Center on Budget and Policy in Washington D.C and at the World Bank in Nairobi and in Washington D.C. Later in his career he served as a Minister Councillor at the Swedish Embassy in Maputo.

Stefan has extensive experience of public finance and has worked at the budget office at the Ministry of Finance in Stockholm. He also served as a Chief of Staff at the Mayor's office at the City of Stockholm, with a responsibility for the City´s budget.

In addition, at Ministry level he worked for a period at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Stockholm, where he mainly focused on development finance. In 2019 he started at Swedfund, the Swedish Development Finance institution, and was part of team building up the Project Accelerator (PA). PA is facility with the mandate to help develop bankable projects in critical infrastructure in countries on the OECD/DAC list.
