Erik Falk's focus is research in postcolonial African and Caribbean literature. East African literature, African book markets, circulation of literature, postcolonial literature, world literature, literary theory are his areas of expertise.

  • Project co-ordinator for cultural exchange and aid programme hosted by the Swedish Arts Council (Kulturrådet). Planning and budget responsibility for Swedish-Botswanan literary workshop, Botswana, December 2013 and 2017
  • Project co-ordinator within "Creative Force" cultural exchange and aid programme hosted by The Swedish Institute (Svenska institutet). Planning and budget responsibility for inter-African advanced writers' workshop in Kampala, Uganda, Jan-Feb 2011, November 2013, spring 2015 and spring 2018.
  • Board member of Nordic Network for Literary Transculturation Studies, based at University of Bergen, Norway. The NNLTS aims at consolidating and pool resources and knowledge on literary transculturation in the Nordic countries. The network will organize a series of symposia 2010-2012.
  • Research in postcolonial (African and Caribbean) literature. Substantial writing, reviewing and publication experience. Interested in 'pure' research as well as putting knowledge to use in e g aid and development areas.
  • Course development, organisation and teaching at university level in literature/culture, composition, and creative writing. Interested in theoretical issues of pedagogics and practical teaching in public and private sectors
  • Extensive academic conference and collaboration experience. Regular speaker at conferences and symposia. Have helped plan and host academic events as well as participate in them.
