Youth, unemployment and the history of labor in Liberia

This research project looks at how labor is and has been organized in Liberia. It pays particular attention to the situation of youth and explores the relationship between youth unemployment and conflict. Looking at history it considers how the labor market in Liberia has been structured and tries to trace patterns that that are recurrent in today’s labor market. The project also considers the post-war context, effects of migration on labor, urban and rural divisions and youth mobility.
