Globalizing Minority Rights

Researcher: Prof. Sirkku Hellsten
Project started in 2016.

Globalizing Minority Rights (GMR) is an international interdisciplinary research project funded by The Research Council of Norway (NFR 259017), SAMKUL Program (2016-2020).

Working Package 4:
Developing World: Explores cases of conflicting rights, including gender perspectives and rights of sexual minorities in the developing world, especially in East Africa.
WP leader: Prof. Sirkku Hellsten.

The project aims to develop a cosmopolitan approach to the conceptualization, justification, and implementation of minority rights, and to test this theoretical framework on three case studies: minorities in the developing world, indigenous peoples, and refugees. GMR is divided into six working packages.
