Africa Day 2014
The young rural generation, especially young men, do not consider farming as a good future. If given an opportunity they tend to sell off land and move to urban areas to seek jobs, set up small shops or engaging in taxi services. NAI researcher Opira Otto discussed the extent to which rural exodus is emerging in Eastern Africa, at a seminar celebrating Africa Day 2014 organised by the African Ambassadors in Sweden. At the same seminar, NAI researcher Atakilte Beyene talked about food security and poverty in a changing global food production conditions.
