Assumptions of governance
Nordic Africa Days 2014 - Call for Panels
With a theme that goes beyond the common reading of governance, the Nordic Africa Days aims to connect the formal state with other non-state forms of governance.
– The state is often discussed as an evil entity preying on its citizens, and the citizens are described as victims of state power. But from the opposite angle, the state is run by the same people that are viewed as victims, says leader of NAI conflict cluster Mats Utas.
Panels discussing governance in different ways are particularly welcome at the conference. Although the Nordic Africa Days 2014 has a special focus the conference is thematically open for panels on other subject areas as well.
– We hope many PhD candidates and other young scholars will participate. The conference is a forum for academic exchange and development, and contributions from a new generation of researchers are important, says NAI head of administration Tania Berger. Read all details at NAD 2014-page.
