Warlords running for presidency
Seminar: Tuesday 10 September at NAI, 14.00-16.30
Welcome to an open seminar at NAI that will discuss the implications of including ex-warlords in election processes in post-conflict countries in West Africa and other parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. Is it a necessary evil in a post-conflict society? What is the consequence of Charles Taylor, Alhaji Kromah and Prince Johnson in Liberia running for presidency and parliament? Can they become agents of change and ‘true democrats’ or is their role limited to posing a threat?
The seminar is an initiative within the Liberia Pilot for collaboration between research and the policy/practice of development, and is co-organised by the Nordic Africa Institute and the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation. It takes place on Tuesday 10 September at NAI, 14-16.30.
