Oil game between Sudan and South Sudan
The conflict between Sudan and South Sudan has escalated and now all the oil supply in the pipeline from South Sudan stopped. NAI researcher Linnéa Gelot have just come back from Abyei-region in the middle of the conflict between the two countries. She reports that the town of Abyei is completely desolate and empty. People have taken everything possible to carry when they fled.
– The oil is used as a card in a larger game of governments in both Khartoum and Juba. The game is to see who loses the most, because both parties lose out on strangled oil pipeline, says Linnéa Gelot to Swedish radio.
