APC wins Sierra Leone election
Supporters of All People’s Congress (APC) and President Ernest Bai Koroma celebrated their election victory over the weekend. In the presidential election in Sierra Leone the incumbent President Koroma received close to 59 percent of the votes as Julius Maada Bio of the main opposition party SLPP to the dismay of his supporters only received 38 percent. Despite independent observers have deemed the elections largely free and fair Maada Bio has said that the elections have been flawed and has challenged the result. There have been some tensions in Bo and Kenema, the two largest cities with a majority of SLPP supporters, but this will most probably ease out now when there will be no second round of votes.
