- Nordic Africa Days 2016
The Nordic Africa Days (NAD) is a biennial international conference, arranged by the Nordic Africa Institute. It has been organized since 1999 in different places in the Nordic countries. This year it will be held in Uppsala and the theme is Gender and Change: Global Challenges for Africa.

- Seminar on Rwanda
Seminar in the Swedish Parliament ‘Democratization and governance under President Kagame. What does the future hold for Rwanda in terms of inclusive governance and democratization? What does the constitutional amendment imply for Rwanda's status as a model for development? The seminar is a collaboration between members of the Swedish Parliament, the Rwandan Embassy in Sweden, and the Nordic Africa Institute. NAI researcher Jesper Bjarnesen moderates the seminar and NAI director Iina Soiri participates.

- Inequality and Middle Class Development in Africa
International workshop organized jointly by the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies and the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) in cooperation with the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) of the University of Cape Town. NAI researcher Henning Melber is one of the invited speakers/panelists.

NAI researcher Sirkku Hellsten will present her research on governance, gender and human rights at this event in Stockholm.
